Dress the ends now, then keep it properly hydrated, and you should never have the problem again. Oiling your fretboard isn't hydrating it. It was basically just a really good quality file (with a very fine cut), cut down to about 3" long and 3/4" wide, JB welded to a block of wood.
WebDec 5, 2024 · Fret sprout is easy to fix and it does happen. Wood moves and expands and there is little GC and Fender can do about that. But i can agree that Guitar shops should fix all that if they want to sell their guitars. I seen so many guitars on racks with poor setups or, no setup at all and other improvements. You can see how they do it on YouTube. Just a matter of filing them back the tools around for it now are almost fool proof they stop once you get rid of the sprout to prevent neck wood damage.
